Career Resources for Nonprofit, Government, B Corps, and Education

This section is aimed at careers in non-profit, government, B corps and education. Resources for careers in creative fields, sustainability and health care and healing are covered separately.

Portland/Metro Area: General

  • www.cnrg-portland.org. CNRG is an excellent resource for nonprofit job seekers. Subscribers to this listserv receive daily notification by e-mail of job openings, classes, events and other issues of interest to people seeking alternative careers.
  • portland.craigslist.org. A large proportion of jobs posted elsewhere show up on Craigslist within a few days. However, it is frustrating that many jobs do not identify the employer.
  • www.indeed.com. Indeed seems to review and compile listings from other major traditional job sites, like Monster.com. We recommend trying it for a few weeks and seeing if you can save time by dropping Jobdango, Monster, etc.
  • Ziprecruiter ZipRecruiter claims to more expertly match both job seekers and recruiters with one another and offers an app that was distinguished recently as the #1 Job Search App.
  • http://meetgoodwill.org/job-connection/ Goodwill Job Connection has many free resources  and skill building opportunities for job seekers in Portland.
  • www.macslist.org Mac's List offers a comprehensive job board for positions with nonprofits, government entities and B corps.
  • www.blocalpdx.com B Local PDX is a group of Certified B Corporations that share a mission of "purpose and passion for using business as a force for good." They host monthly B Learning luncheons that are lively, informative and well-attended.
  • Willamette Week Give Guide Every year Willamette Week highlights several nonprofits and encouraging readers to donate generously. Over the years this website continues to spotlight these nonprofits, culminating in a terrific online resource for anyone seeking more insight about the nonprofit landscape in Portland.
  • Hatch Hatch is a co-working space for social entrepreneurs and nonprofits on NE Sandy that offers workshops, networking opportunities, workspace and other resources to support mission-driven professionals.

Portland/Metro Area: Development

  • www.wvdo-or.org. Willamette Valley Development Officers sponsors this site that has the most comprehensive local listing of jobs in development, including event planning, fundraising and grant writing.
